Process Snapshot

A look at some of the initial concept work that went into creating the projects scrolling narrative.

Project Objectives

The Convex Seascape Survey is an ambitious 4 year research programme, investigating and quantifying carbon storage in coastal seas around the globe. The website is an introduction to the concept of seascape carbon storage and the role we believe the ocean plays. The immersive experience is the first piece of a larger campaign that will span the next 3 years. The core objective for this phase of the campaign was raising awareness and understanding around carbon storage in our oceans. Our aim was to educate a broad segment of the general public and help them understand the importance of the topic and the need for research around it.

Creating the narrative

With such a complex subject and and broad target audience the challenge was explaining the science in an accessible way, using plain language and a logical narrative flow to guide the user on an educational journey, without overwhelming them with unnecessary content and scientific jargon. For a deeper insight into the process behind creating this immersive website follow the link below.

Integrated AR experience

The AR easter egg was integrated into the website to add another layer of immersion for the user to experience along the journey. The experience was created as part of a larger educational campaign. We also created a virtual reality experience taking you on a journey to discover what a healthy ocean looks like.

The campaign

We created the immersive AR experience for World Ocean Day which allowed users to walk with whales and encouraged them to share their experience on social media using the hashtag #walkwithwhales to raise awareness for ocean health.

The results

The campaign was a huge success with over 4.5 Million people reached, and people all around the globe sharing their own ‘Walk With Whales’ experience.
