True/False
Can we still believe in visuals? Can we distinguish between true and false in the digital era and the development of generative AI? These were the questions that the KIKK team posed to us when briefing in the theme for the 2024 edition of the festival; True/False.
Our response to this both challenging and exciting brief was to create a visual direction that explored the idea of distorting reality and presenting these 2 versions in a slick animated identity.
A Unique Touch
As with all our projects, we strive to explore new technologies and integrate them into our workflows. During our initial exploration of techniques for creating the distorted visuals, we found that the results produced in TouchDesigner were really promising. Embracing this potential, we developed a process to generate unique visuals using simple gradients, 3D assets or even the webcam feed as inputs, generating a dynamic and interactive point field which would be used to drive the distortion of an evolving gradient, creative a for a unique and pattern with each generation.
